Baby Cardinals In Nest

These are three beautiful female baby Cardinals that have chosen me as their protector through their lovely mother who built this nest at the far side of my tin awning right next to the entrance to my home. This was last year and, unbeknownst to me, I had the good fortune of taking this picture only moments before they all left the nest and flew out and away into my trees never to return to this nest again. Earlier this year the one on the left came back to me and built her nest right next to where I stand on my short deck at my entrance. When I stick my head under the awning we are literally face to face and eye to eye. I call her Lady Bird and she is days away from having babies of her own. She loves to play and do loops and dives through the air while I am watching her and whistling to her. It is a great honour to be so loved by our wild and winged family…and so well entertained.

Cheers!
